LOW-WASTE LUNCH BOX IDEAS
As part of our Environmental care for both people and the planet, we are aiming for healthier, low-waste lunch boxes. Low waste lunches is one way to teach our children how to contribute to our Enviroschools commitment, and to a more sustainable world.
Here are a few ideas:
Try a pre-portioned reusable food container to replace plastic bags or glad wrap, such as (non toxic) stainless steel or silicone containers
Weekend prep (get the kids involved!) to bake healthy muffins, bulk roast vegetables, pre-cut vegetables to dip into hummus
Ditch the disposables and replace with wraps made from beeswax or cloth, or reusable sandwich and snack bags. These are often very durable and you don’t need to worry about chemicals leaching into food
Ask the kids to research ideas for healthy wholefood options - there’s plenty online!
Reduce , or even cut out, processed and pre-packaged food
