Year 5 Room 1 and 2 Camp

Kendall Brook —

On Tuesday the 21st Room 1 and 2 Year 5s went to camp at Tirohanga. Despite the rain we ventured out to the camp ground and played some rainy day games inside the hall. Once the rain began to stop Constable Ross joined us to teach us search and rescue skills. There were two groups Alpha and Charlie. We had to find two parents who were lost and hurt. Group Charlie were first back to base camp with their parents and Group Alpha made it back just in time before it poured down with rain once again.

One of our highlights was going on the waterslide in the drizzling rain. Only the bravest of the bunch slid down the slippery water slide. Our bodies felt like ice blocks just taken out the freezer. The excitement was all worth it, zooming through our veins rapidly.

After our delicious pizza and sausages in bread we were lucky enough to have a break in the weather. We rugged up with many layers to see the glow worms. Trudging up the muddy slope we came closer to the magical sight. The teachers told us to shut off the touches and the glow worms began to shine. It was a gorgeous display.
