A FICTITIOUS SPIN ON OUR FLOOD DAY

Joanne Bryson —

Room 3 and 4 spent last Friday morning creating a quick write story about the recent flood day. We had an image of Mr Thorn on the board and followed the success criteria to write some funny stories!

Mr Thorn with the Weather Report

"Up next it's interesting Mr Thorn at East Taieri School with the weather. He lives in a house on a street where news hub hasn't conducted yet. Oh we just got a report and it says he lives in a small cottage under a tree in the school orchard. He has a big slide going down from up on the tree. His special talent is that he can mark school books as fast as the flash can run. The problem was we just found out he can't do the weather report because he is stuck, floating down the creek on his umbrella. He is without his gumboots so he doesn't want to go in the water." "Wait! What is happening now? Now it looks like some superhero lady has come to save him! Nope, just Miss B but still it's Miss B!" She grabs his hand and pulls him to shore. "My umbrella" he yells and jumps back into the water. Only then does he realise the water was only up to his knees.

The Massive Flood

One very cold day there stood a talented teacher called Mr T. He lived in a very flash and beautiful house up on a hill. Mr T is very sporty and great at teaching in Room 34. He is also very good at climbing. Mr T was going to go play a game outside but then saw gallons of water. He lost his umbrella in the flood when he was going to teach. Mr T nearly cried! Then he hoped in his car and got to East Taieri School and saw the creek. He started to panic about the children. Then he hurried into the school in his gumboots and emailed their parents and saved the day!
