SPORTS INFORMATION - WEEK 3

Rachel Phillips —

We are coming up to the last few weeks of winter sports for some codes. Please read further down for more information.

Next week we have a busy week with 3 mixed netball teams heading to the Edgar Centre to take part in the Netball South Dunedin Metro tournament and we also have 2 Rugby League teams taking part in the Dunedin Schools rugby league tournament. I look forward to sharing our results with you.

Summer sport registrations will be coming up in the next few weeks. Keep an eye on the newsletter and sports website for registration details.

Miniball:

We have our last 2 weeks of miniball underway. Well done to all teams on your results this season. We have 4 teams playing off for a spot in the finals. Tough luck to the East Taieri Saints who finished 4th equal and narrowly missed making the semi final by points differential!!

All teams will still have a game this week, there are friendly games for those teams who did not make the finals. I will attach a copy of the draw in a picture below.

Hockey:

Our two hockey teams have been hit with sickness this term and I am so proud of all our East Taieri school players for showing amazing resilience. A special thank you to the Yr 3/4 players who have stepped up to fill in for the Yr 5/6 team some weeks.

We have 3 weeks left of hockey! Keep up the amazing effort.

Draw - Wednesday 10th August

Yr 3/4 Speedy Sticks vs Mac Bay Rattlesnakes - 4.25pm McMillan Hockey Centre / OPT

Super Sticks vs St Clair - 4.30pm at Otago Community Kings turf

Game report from Super Sticks:

A very tough match for the Super Sticks against a very experienced George Street Normal team. Super proud of the resilience of the team, giving it their all until full time. Even though we were defeated, the progress you have made as a team this season is obvious to our wonderful, encouraging parent supporters. Special thanks to Fergus B for playing for our team this week. Fergus you did an amazing job and were amongst all the action. Congratulations to our player of the day this week: Fergus B
