PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Jennifer Horgan —

‘E ako ana, ā, e tipu tahi ana tātou’ - Learning and growing together.

Kia ora koutou

I hope that everyone has been making the most of the beautiful weather and enjoyed the long ANZAC weekend.

At last night's BOT Zoom meeting we discussed what a great team effort it has been over the past few weeks, with parents, teachers, teacher assistants and students all working so well together during this challenging time for everyone. We continue to appreciate the support from parents and whanau who are following the principle of Alert Level 3 - that those children who are able to be cared for at home should stay at home. We are very aware of the challenges many families face with parents juggling childcare, working from home, while trying to supervise children's home learning. Parents and caregivers are doing an amazing job and staff are so impressed with the learning that has been going on.

It is a very different school environment today with our small team doing our best to follow guidelines from both the Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Health with just three pupils at school. Denise Hannagan, our Learning Support Coordinator is overseeing the children's on-line learning programme at school, with Donnya Blair one of our Teacher Assistants in the bubble as well. It has meant that all teachers have been able to continue with their home learning programmes, daily Zoom sessions, 1-1 conferencing, emailing, planning, reviewing and giving feedback on work completed by students.

Property News:

The Board was pleased to receive consent from the Ministry to use our School Investment Package funding to relocate Room 13 to the existing staffroom, while transforming Room 13 into a staffroom with the addition of a kitchenette. We hope to complete the project this year and look forward to the benefits this initiative will provide for both staff and students. We are also hoping to have the door between Rooms 7 & 8 put in over the next few weeks, enhancing the collaborative space, making it more conducive to collaborative teaching.

Thank you again for your ongoing support as we continue our journey through Alert Level 3.

Nga mihi nui
