7th April

East Taieri white - 0  vs  St Clair - 5Another solid effort from all the players.Player of the game went to Harry for an overall strong game and excellent work as goalie in the 2nd half.

Flippa Ball

An awesome 3-0 win by the ET Sharks against Outram in the A Grade semi-final. The whole team played an amazing game, showing determination to win. Goals were scored by Kaiah, Milly and Hugo. Players of the day were Corby and Kaiah. We are all looking forward to our final game on Sunday. Go the mighty Sharks!

ET Penguins 8 - Abbotsford 1
ET played 2 games on Sunday. The first was a playoff against Abbotsford to decide which of these teams would go through to the semifinals. ET dominated play from the outset, keeping play in the oppositions half, scoring goal after goal by working together getting themselves in space and giving themselves their best position for scoring goals.
ET won with an impressive 8-1 scorecard.

ET Penguins 6 - Outram 3
ET made it through to the semifinals which they played straight after their playoff match. After a nerve-wracking first half, they took back the lead in the second half. They all played their hardest, not holding anything back.
Amazing defence stopped anymore goals from Outram in the second half.
A very exciting and well-deserved win by ET.
Special mention to our parent support - lots of cheering, support and encouragement from the sidelines.
Next weekend- The finals!

Good luck to the Sharks and the Penguins for their finals.

Otago Triathlon Championships

Otago Primary School Swimming Championships

I cannot speak more highly of the East Taieri Team yesterday at the Otago Primary School Swimming Championships.

All 14 children represented East Taieri School so well and with pride, all showing sportsmanship and giving their all!

The children faced very tough competition, from swimmers all around Otago, North Otago through to South and Central Otago with up to 40 swimmers in their categories.

There were a total of 18 Personal Bests and some brilliant individual results.

There were also some great nail-biters especially in the boys 50 free final, both Ruan and Hugo neck and neck and finishing with a time of 0.03 of a second between them!!!!!

The relay teams were incredible and taking the field with a 1st and a 2nd.

Hugo - 50 Free 1st, 50 Breast 1st.

Elzanne - 50 Back 4th

Ruan - 50 Free 2nd, 50 Back 3rd

Jack - 50 Free 6th, 50 Back 7th

Senior Relay Team - 1st -Hugo, Ruan, Angus, Alex

Junior Relay Team - 2nd - Elzanne, Jack, Charlie, Charlotte

Other team members who qualified and raced really well - Charlie C, Sophia H-J, Kaiah H, Zoe H, Charlotte L, Milly Q, Angus S, Alex R, Tom T, George VdeW.

These are fabulous results from our swimmers, a busy week of sport for many of them.

Twilight League Girls Football

Football South are excited to announce the Girls Twilight League will start during Term 2 this year.

The Girls Twilight League has four grades.

Under 5/6, Under 7/8, Under 8/9, Under 10/11.

It runs on Friday afternoons from 4pm-6pm depending upon the grade at Logan Park.

The league works by linking schools with their local clubs. If your girl is interested, please follow the link below and fill out the expression of interest form. From there, we pass on this information to your closest club and the club then contacts the individual.

We try to keep schools connected with clubs as it helps the girls find a pathway into football.

Please see the attached poster, and the link to our website for more information.

Sports Equipment for School

If you have any unused sports equipment that is still in good condition at your place, we would love to have some more for our lunchtime use. Tennis Rackets are a popular choice at the moment as are basketballs and tennis balls. If you would like to donate some unused gear to our sports shed lunchtime supply, we would love to hear from you. Please let Jolene Casey know or bring it into school to see if it is suitable. Many thanks.
