EDGAR CENTRE SPORTS MORNING

Janine Clague —

By Ruby and Charlotte

We all scrambled to the bus and got ready to head to the Edgar Centre.

Once we arrived we split up into our groups and started our first activity.

Our first session was basketball we learnt drills and basic skills to help improve our passing and catching. At that session the coaches also taught us how to dribble and control the ball.

Our next activity was hockey we played a game called ‘Rats and Rabbits’. Then we practiced our hockey passes with a buddy and did some dribbling and trapping.

Then we moved onto soccer. For our warm up we started to make our way around the netball courts while dribbling the ball. After the coaches decided we had, had done enough of that they split up into groups. Then we played a game of green light, orange light and red light. Green light means go. Orange light meant that people in hi vis vests could kick your ball out of court. That was when it was time to go to morning tea which was 15 minutes long.

After our break we were ready to start our next activity, relays, but before we started we practiced our hop, step and jump for our warm up. Then we did some jumping over hurdles, ladders and hoops we also had to do some push ups and star jumps. Then we got split into groups and did some relays. First we did backwards running, then side stepping and lastly running and sprinting.

Our last activity was touch, our warm up was passing with a buddy.

Then we did some piggy in the middle. After that the buzzer went and it was time to go back to school. Overall we had a great day it was so fun.
