SUNFLOWER WRITING FROM ROOMS 11 AND 12

Jo Hackfath —

We have been admiring the giant sunflower growing in the school garden behind the Senior block. Here is a sample of sunflower stories from some of the Manuka and Matai writers:

The sunflower is spiky and heavy and looks like a sun. Isabella

The sunflower is fuzzy. It is taller than Jo. Mack

This sunflower is very tall because it’s been having a lot of water. Lachie

The sunflower is so big. It is bigger than me. I wish I was bigger than it! The sunflower is probably bigger than me and Jo. Lyla

The sunflower was so big. The leaves were a zig zag on the edges. It was 230cm long. Xavier

The sunflower is big and it looks like a pine cone and it looks like the sun and the stem must be strong. The stem is 2.3m long. Beau

When I touched the sunflower it felt fuzzy and spiky. It was taller than Jo and Jess. Elise

This is a tall sunflower. It is taller than if I touched the sun. It will be ticklish and taller than Jo and Jess and the gate, too. Ryley

Sunflowers are tall. They are taller than me. They look like the sun. Emmy

At school behind Room 1 there is a sunflower. It is very big, even bigger than Jo. I think it is fuzzy. Nixon

The sunflower is growing in the patch. It is strong. Emmerson

The sunflower feels like a pine cone. Ivan

This sunflower is the biggest one yet. Kids said lots of stuff about it like it feels fuzzy. It looks like a pine cone and it has a prickly stem and smooth leaves. Charlie

Room 11 and Room 12 came to see the sunflower this morning. I have a sunflower at my house. Every morning I water the sunflower. Sadie

The sunflower is yellow and it feels prickly. Izak
