REDUCING SPEED LIMITS AROUND SCHOOLS

Jennifer Horgan —

Information from Cherry Lucas Tukuaru/Councillor Dunedin City Council

Information for all Mosgiel and Outram schools

I am sure you are aware of the proposal to reduce the speed limits around your school to 30 kmph. Unfortunately, there is a very short period for submission, with submissions closing on 9 December, and I wanted to make sure you are aware of the proposals and are putting in a submission to either support what is proposed for the streets around your school or suggest changes. You may want your school community through your newsletters, to also submit. It is very important that we get this right as it will be very hard to change in the future. This is a national directive where the speed limit around ALL schools must be reduced to 30 kmph. There is the opportunity to make it variable eg just during school hours or permanent 365 days of the year. You can submit on this also.
