An initiative from a group of passionate girls turns out to be a great success.

Last Tuesday Arielle, Meg, Peyton, Tayla, Hana and Belle had a bake sale to help support the research in saving the Great Barrier Reef. 

The girls had a goal of raising $100 however the amazing support of the East Taieri students meant they were able to raise $475! 

Wow. The girls were blown away by the support and want to thank all those families who donated.

It was a very hot day and the line was extremely long. Brownies and milk shakes seemed to be on everyone's wish list. The best way to describe the scene was by Meg who said "Man! It's like working at Subway."

The money was counted after lunch and sent home with Arielle.

The next day Maya, Arielle's mum investigated which foundation would be best to donate to and The Australian Marine Conservation Society has been chosen.
