RIPPA RUGBY TOURNAMENT

Jolene Casey —

Wow - what super stars we have at East Taieri School. CONGRATULATIONS to our Year 3/4 Green team who won the Tournament.   Also big well done to the East Taieri Jade team who finished in the Top 4 in the Year 5/6 grade.

Our other 3 teams also had an excellent day finishing off with many wins and having had lots of fun. Bring on the Otago Tournament!! (More info on this later).

The day started a little chilly, thank goodness for Forsyth Barr Stadium and the roof to keep us a little warmer!  The children were all super excited and a little anxious, but that energy was soon taken up with a large effort out on the fields for great games of rippa rugby.  Every team played 4 or 5 round robin games in pool play and then the top 4 played semi-finals and the top 2 played a final.

I had taught the children a supportive chant on the bus on the way in and they were heard loud and clear over the sound system at the Stadium cheering on our wee Year 3/4 team in the final!  The super support team even made the news with their chant!  See the link on the school facebook page.

Huge thanks to our Parent Managers and Helpers for the day. Without them we could not have had so many children taking part and enjoying themselves. Thank you, thank you. :-)

Have a look on our Gallery page on the school sports website for lots more photos from the day.  Sorry I'm missing two team photos.

We look forward to more training's and the next challenge the Otago Rippa Rugby Tournament on Tuesday 30th of July at the Stadium again with our Year 3/4 Green team and the Yr 5/6 Jade team.
