BANNOCKBURN CAMP (20-24 NOVEMBER)
The Year 6s had an awesome time at camp. Lots of challenges, laughs and swimming. Here are a few diary entries.
Monday - Bula!
I was so excited because the day we head to camp has finally arrived. We were all talking a lot and enthusiastic about the day ahead of us. After a very stuffy, sweaty and crammed bus ride we all turned up to the lobster farm, had a quick lunch and then started our farm tour. We all got to learn about when the lakes were built and what crazy things lobsters get up to at night. Our next stop was the Clyde Dam for a tour. We all got to wear hard hats and hi-vis vests. The tour was great. We got to see the control room, penstocks, turbines, and even went down into the dam itself.
We crammed back onto the hot bus one more time and headed to the Bannockburn camp site. After afternoon tea we couldn't wait to hop into the very cold shallow swimming pool. It was such a great day.

Tuesday - Aloha.
Today was Awesome! We had a lot of exciting activities today. My favorite activity was definitely the boating because we got to ride on the biscuit. The reason why I liked it so much was because of my companions Jack and Ewan. We had so much fun jumping over waves and pushing each other off. When we were were at abseiling with Miss Agnew, it was very exciting. We were all so scared to begin with, but when we got to the edge off the cliff it wasn't so scary. The order of activities for my group today was abseiling, mountain biking, rifles, boating and fishing
Thank you to everyone who made this day possible

Wednesday - Kia Ora!
My brain whooshed with excitement as our groups for break in were called out. “Emily, (Phoebe’s mum) you are with: Phoebe, Keisha, and Alexis.”
“Yay! My besties,” I scream in my head. As we get in our groups, we all race towards the starting point: The caravan.
“39!” Ben says. The numbering off has finished, the game has begun! “Follow me,” Emily whispers to us. Phoebe, Keisha and I run with Emily to one of the trees. “There!” I say, pointing. Miss Agnew and Mr Thorn were on the dining room roof, shining their torches over the terrain.
“One group caught!” I think, as Mr Thorn calls a name, and groaning people pass us, on their way to the dining room. We stick to the walls, trying to be quiet. I can’t really talk in a quiet voice, and i have to be careful, for the name Miss Agnew and Mr Thorn said the most, was mine!
There was a group in front of us, hiding under a blanket. “Myah!” Mr Thorn yells. The group take off the blanket and walk to under the dining room. We had to be even more careful now, they knew the group was there, and thought others would follow their footsteps.
“On five!” Emily whispers to us. “Five!” We run to the dining room, still against the walls. Louise’s group was found, and Nigel was in front of us. Submerged in torch light. He gave us a thumbs up.
Emily nodded. “One.. two... THREE!” We whisper. Making a run for it, we passed other groups and made it to the pool gate. We try to squeeze through the people that had just made it. “YES!” Phoebe, Keisha, Emily and I yell. We did it, second place!
