40 HOUR FAMINE BRONZE CERTIFICATE

Lisa Agnew —

In June of this year 50 East Taieri students participated in the 2017 World Vision 40 Hour Famine.

They joined hundreds of other people from around New Zealand, making an incredible difference to children affected by the Syria Crisis.  This year famine participants raised $1,639.

This money is helping to support Child Friendly Spaces in Jordan refugee camps.  These are spaces for the children who have fled the conflict in Syria, giving them a chance to heal from the trauma of war through arts, music, sports and play.

The efforts made by East Taieri 40 Hour Famine participants have earned  the school a World Vision Bronze certificate.  This is awarded to schools in the top 50 percent of 40 Hour Famine schools across New Zealand.

Thank you to all famine participants and to those who supported the 40 Hour Famine by sponsoring children taking part.
