OTAGO CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPS

Jolene Casey —

Friday 14th September 2018 - What a stunning day for Cross Country.

Well done to all of our Otago Cross Country runners, who took on not only about 90 other runners in their group, but also the heat of the day.

After a walk around the course to familiarise the children with where to go, we had a good warm up, stretch and some fluids and then our Year 5 girls headed to the start line.   It was one of the best days in many, many years for the Otago Champs at Kaikorai Valley College.  Usually we are in gumboots, beanies and puffer or rain jackets!  With only T shirts and shorts and plenty of sunblock and water the children were rearing to go!

Every one of our East Taieri children ran a great race, it is always a lot tougher once you get to the Otago Champs.  A great learning experience for many of them, as it was their first time, they will be seasoned experts next year ready to run harder and faster!

Thank you to our parent helpers, who transported the children and supported all of our East Taieri Runners.  A great day out!
