It's great to see so many children involved in sports around the school. There are lots of practices taking place during lunch times and even morning tea time some days! It's amazing to see the children embrace all the opportunities that are offered to them.

Rippa Rugby Tournament: A reminder that registrations for the Yr 3-6 Rippa Rugby tournament that is happening during the school day on Wednesday the 31st of May, close this evening. Please follow the link below if your child would like to play in this.

TSSA Duathlon: The Taieri Schools Sports Association Duathlon is going to take place on Thursday the 8th of June. This is an opt in event for Yr 4-6 children who would like to experience competing in a Duathlon. There are 3 legs... longer run, bike and a sprint finish. Children can do this as an individual or as part of a team. I will be asking for interest from the children tomorrow and sending an email directly to parents to register their children. Alternatively, you can find the information letter and Google Form registration on the school sports website under the TSSA tab.

Hockey Sessions with Otago Hockey Association: Tomorrow the first group of classes will begin their 30 minute hockey session with the talent coaches from Otago Hockey Association. Every class in the school will have 3 x 30 minute sessions during their PE time over the next 3 weeks. I can't wait to share some feedback and photos with you next week. Reminder, the cost for all 3 session this is $3 per child and will be added to your school account. Please email rachelp@east-taieri.school.nz if you have any questions about this.

Hockey results: Unfortunately the good weather run came to a halt on Wednesday and all our hockey games were cancelled due to the thunder, lighting and hail!!! Let's hope the weather improves this week and you can all take the turf!

Miniball: We had a mixed bag of results for Miniball this week. There are some very strong teams in the competition this year, but it was great to hear that our children all showed resilience and positive sportsmanship. Yr 3 ET Shooters and ET Knicks played each other at school on Wednesday during lunchtime. It was fabulous to see so many grandparents and parents on the sidelines. It was a great spectacle that was a mid week highlight for the players and spectators. A special thank you to Braxton, Leon and Jude for being wonderful helpers to Mrs Phillips by timing and scoring the game. We really appreciation your contribution to sport, boys!

Netball: I haven't heard any results yet, but I am sure all the teams were excited to be starting the Netball season. I look forward to hearing how your games go this season.
