EAST TAIERI KAPA HAKA GROUP POLYFEST PERFORMANCE
There was a buzz of excitement as we were asked to get changed into our Kapa Haka uniforms.
After we had our mokos on we got our pitch black lipstick on and feathers were placed in our hair. Grabbing our bags we jumped on the bus and took the ride to the Edgar Center where the Polyfest was being held. We stepped of the bus and stood out in the cold air, where we were greeted by the Polyfest volunteers. When we got inside we waited (and waited) backstage for two hours. While we waited we practised our amazing performance, watched another school practise their performance and talked to friends. Finally it was our turn. As we headed backstage a mix of warm air and nerves puts a drop of sweat on my face. We lined up and filed up the ramp, ready to go on stage. Finn lead us out onto the stage with the chant Toia Mai. We performed Rona, the Poutini haka, Hareruia and finished our performance with the sasa. We were really proud of our performance and happily walked off stage.
