SPORTS INFORMATION - WEEK 2

Rachel Phillips —

What a crazy week of weather we had last week which resulted in some sports getting cancelled which was a shame. We hope all sports can go ahead this week. Please ensure you keep an eye on the school Facebook page and your emails, this is where we will post cancelled sports games.

The Senior Yr 4-6 TSSA Cross Country is fast approaching! I hope all Yr 4-6 children have managed to complete some training runs to help them prepare.

Our main Winter sports are continuing for the beginning of the term, Hockey, Netball and Miniball. Please keep an eye on the school website and school newsletter for registrations for Summer sports. These will becoming out in about a months time. Please contact Rachel Phillips if you have any further questions about this rachelp@east-taieri.school.nz

We are lucky to have so many sporting opportunities for our tamariki. In Week 4 we have 2 teams playing in the Year 5/6 Dunedin Schools Rugby League Tournament and 3 Yr 5 and 6 Netball Teams playing in the Netball South Mixed tournament. Information for the netball tournament will be coming out this week. Thank you to all the parents who offer to help coach, manage and transport children to and from these events. We would not be able to offer these sporting opportunities without your support.

Hockey:

Hopefully games will go ahead this week!!

Yr 5/6 Super Sticks vs GSNS Tui's - Otago Community Trust, Kings Hockey Turf

Super Sticks Game report - Week 10, Term 2:

We all enjoyed a local game at Silver Stream, against Silver Stream school this week. Another fast paced game but great team work and perseverance resulting in a triumphant 6-2 win. We were lucky enough to have James Loughrey play for us who made a real impact on both attack and defence, thank you James. Thank you also to Steven for your expert coaching tips! Congratulations to this weeks player of the day Archie W.It has truly been amazing to see the skills and confidence of the Super Sticks players grow each game, you should all be so proud of yourselves - look how far you have come this term! Can't wait to see the progress in term 3. - Katie W, team manager.
