EPRO8 Technology Challenge

Catherine McRae —

Twenty-four budding engineers took part in the EPRO8 School Challenge. Each team had to make a working dunk tank. Two teams of four were selected to go through to the Dunedin Competition. The E.T. Crafters (Hunter Girven, Jude Laurie, George van de Water, James Dawson) got off to a great start with the car wash challenge and showed perseverance when trying to get it moving forwards. The East Taieri Mechanics (Leo Campbell, Ethan Cartwright, Lucas Smith, Athan Breytenbach worked well together to make a working pendulum clock. They almost completed the whole challenge earning them second place and a spot in the Otago EPRO8 grand final. The final challenges were all about old-fashioned video games. They chose the Tetris challenge and demonstrated teamwork and perseverance through some tough tasks.

Congratulations to all the children who took part. Thank you to the parents who came and supported East Taieri Teams.
