UKULELE JAM

Annette MacRae —

Ukulele Jam 2017.

As we line up to get on the bus, excitement flows through my body. We leave just as the bell rings to pick up the Fairfield students. After a quick stop at Fairfield we finally arrive at Tahuna. At the Ukulele Jam we began by playing Amawole, which is a African song. Some of the coolest song were Best Day of My Life, Ho Hey, Budapest, I’m on Top of the World, Chained to the Rhythm, and the best one was Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N’ Roses. Paralympian Anna Grimaldi and Southern Steel player Olivia Bates picked out the winners for the best decorated ukuleles. Abigail placed third with her 2D ukulele and Rosie got second with her 3D ukulele, both of them winning a box of chocolates. The first place getters won a brand new ukulele. After a fun morning jamming on our ukuleles we lined up and headed back home to East Taieri for lunch.
