OTHER SPORTING SUCCESS

Jolene Casey —

We have some very talented sporting children at East Taieri School. Here are some further successes from our children competing in competitions over the weekend.

Karting

Jack McG had a fantastic weekend of racing last weekend at the National Karting Championships.  He was competing against the best in the country in his group the Cadet Rok.  He had some super races to get him right through to the FINALS, he came 2nd in the semi-final.

Jack was in a great position aiming for top 3 in the final when unfortunately he was taken out by another driver and knocked off the track.  He did extremely well to get back on track and continue the race, but was too far behind to place in the top 3.  Great determination to carry on Jack - well done.

Gymnastics

Olivia M, Emma B and Isabelle M compete in the DGA invitational inter club competition in the weekends. They compete with local clubs and clubs from Oamaru, Balclutha, Waimate, Queenstown, Wanaka, South Canterbury and Invercargill. This is the first time both Emma and Isabelle were competing in WAG STEP 1 under division and they did very well:-

Emma - 3rd on floor, 4th on bar and Overall 4th

Isabelle - 1st on vault, 4th on bar and Overall 5th

Olivia competes in the WAG STEP 3 under division - 1st on floor, 2nd on bar, 3rd on vault, 3rd on beam and Overall 1st and their team came 1st too.

Great results from the girls - congratulations girls, great achievements.  See the photos below.
