KIWIANA 2020

Natalie King-Begg —

Kiwiana is going to be a little different in 2020!

There have been some changes made to our Kiwiana programme. Jo Bryson has decided to take a step back from Kiwiana this year, but will continue to be involved in ICAS and events such as scrabble and EPro8. We are very grateful for all the enthusiasm and passion that she added to Kiwiana. Jess Hall from R11, and with particular passion for children who learn and think differently, will take over the group of children who will regularly attend all, or most sessions. There will be an afternoon session for this group, starting later in the term. The focus for this group will be different from the morning sessions, and will be based around things such as thinking, wellbeing, strategies etc.

The morning sessions will be based around a specific focus area - i.e., enviro, creative, science, technology etc. There will be a Junior and Senior group for these. Either Y2-3 and 4-6, or 2-4 and 5-6 depending on the focus. These will be led by a teacher with strength in the particular area. During 2020 this will be the following - Term 1 - weeks 4-10, Jo Hackfath/Enviro focus. Term 2 - Weeks 1-5, Eve McSoriley/creative focus, Weeks 6-10, Mel Cruickshank/Digitech focus. Other possibilities might be:  Natalie King/Science, Garth Powell/Technology, Lisa Agnew/maths etc etc.

The sessions will continue to take place in the library and the children will be notified as to when they need to be there! I am going to be the GATE coordinator again and will oversee groups and the general focus of Kiwiana.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Natalie King
