SPORTS INFORMATION - WEEK 8

Rachel Phillips —

What a freezing cold week we have had! It was so cold and stormy that Wednesday afternoon hockey was cancelled.

Well done to all the children who have shown resilience and still turned up to their practices and games on these cold days. Keep up the amazing work.

Miniball:

Again, many of our miniball teams have been hit with sickness. Thank you to everyone who has emailed me to inform me their child won't be able to make the game. We have managed to get others to make up the numbers and everyone has managed to field a team.

The Taieri Miniball website has the draw each week:- https://www.sporty.co.nz/taieriminiball

ALL children NEED a mouth guard to play miniball, so please ensure you have this ready to go.

The policy with SNOW DAYS for miniball is that if schools are closed on that day, there is NO Miniball for that day. If it is a late start, then miniball continues as normal after school.

Hockey:

Let's hope for some more settled weather this week so games can go ahead.

Yr 5/6 Super Sticks game report for 8/6/22:                  Well done to the super sticks after a tough game against a very experienced St Mary’s this week. Some great attacking & defensive moments but St Mary's were ultimately triumphant.

This weeks goal is to transfer our lunchtime practice skills with Mrs Donaldson directly to the the game. Congratulations to our player of the day this week: Alex

Netball:

It was a freezing cold Saturday morning but it was great to hear our teams still got out on the court played their hardest.

ET Emeralds - game report

East Taieri Emeralds have been off to a flying start with a brilliant first and second game by all the girls.

Unfortunately our team defaulted to us this weekend, so big thanks to Mums and Dads who stepped in to play against the girls. The girls definitely won the sideline cheering with just a touch of heckling the adults. Alice's Dad was the star shooter for the adults but the girls took it out in the end 11-10 using their practiced skills of bounce passes and finding space. Well done to everybody who participated and had a bit of fun!
