PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Jennifer Horgan —

E hara taku toa i te toa takitahi, he toa takitini. My strength is not as an individual, but as a collective.

Kia ora koutou

Thank you to our school community for the support shown for teachers as we head towards the Strike Day on Wednesday. We understand the inconvenience  that school closures cause and apologise for this. Hopefully there will be a positive outcome from the action taken.

It was with sadness that we farewelled Ilze Livesey from our staff recently. Ilze has been a highly valued Teacher Aide at East Taieri School for the past fifteen years. Ilze’s knowledge, skills, perceptiveness, innovative ideas and desire to make a difference to children’s learning made her an invaluable asset to any classroom she worked in during her time at East Taieri. Our best wishes go with Ilze as she takes on new challenges.

Staff had a big week of professional development last week with all teachers involved in DMIC (Developing Mathematical Inquiry Communities) training, as well as two staff members attending a seminar 'Being Trauma Informed in Practice.' Valuable information from this seminar will be shared with all staff.

We have had teachers from several schools visiting over the term, looking in particular at collaborative teaching at East Taieri and our play-based approach to teaching in the Junior School.

Ngā mihi

Jennifer
