Congratulations to Lily M for her fantastic success at the New Zealand Junior Festival Swim Meet.

The NZ Junior Festival is the biggest swim event of the year. This was held in Timaru where Lily had to compete against others in the same age group from all over the whole of the South Island.

It was a tough competition, racing against others that train 2 hours in the morning, 2 hours in the afternoon, 5 – 7 days a week. This is the same training in 1 day as Lily does in a week!

Lily swam brilliantly, even with small errors (all her turns lost her time), she still managed great results. Such great determination shown.

1st in 200m and 100m backstroke

2nd in 50m backstroke 

She also got 100 % Personal Best’s in all of her races.

There was a Mum from another Swim Club that approached Lily's Mum to say Lily’s sportsmanship was so good. She noticed Lily had consoled kids that got disqualified with words of encouragement, and congratulated everyone, including those who beat her. Needless to say, Lily made a few friends!

A magnificent effort Lily, well done.
