PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Jennifer Horgan —

‘E ako ana, ā, e tipu tahi ana tātou’ - Learning and growing together.

Kia ora Koutou

Congratulations to our Kapa Haka group for their fabulous performance at Polyfest last week. I have received several lovely emails from East Taieri parents and compliments from colleagues across Dunedin, commenting on the polished performance of our tamariki. Thank you to Lisa Agnew, Alison Tay and Rachel Phillips for their great mahi with the group.

I felt very fortunate to be able to attend the New Zealand Principals' Federation Conference in Otautahi, Christchurch last week along with 870 principals from across New Zealand.

I found the presentations from the students inspiring, uplifting and challenging. Ranging in age from Year 6 to Year 13, they shared learning experiences that shaped their views on education, role models who had impacted on their lives and their thoughts about what leaders needed to do to improve education in Aotearoa.

Other highlights for me were the keynote speakers, especially Dr Siouxsie Wiles, Professor Russell Bishop, Dr Farah Palmer and Scott Robertson, all of whom provided thought-provoking messages.

SURVEY REMINDER

Your views are important, to help guide the Leadership Team and the new Board of Trustees about the future of East Taieri School. We would appreciate you taking the time to fill out the survey that was sent out by class teachers last week.
The survey will remain open until 12.00pm on Wednesday the 28th of September.

We are looking forward to the Art Exhibition this week, hoping that parents and whānau are able to come along and enjoy viewing our students' creative mahi.

Ngā mihi nui

Jennifer
