DRIVER BEHAVIOUR A REAL CONCERN

Following up on our concerns about driver behaviour at the carpark entrance as drivers exit onto Cemetery Road, Constable Plew observed drivers last Friday afternoon. 80% of drivers did NOT stop at the yellow line adjacent to the footpath, but drove straight out onto the green footpath area. Pedestrians and those on scooters and bikes have right-of-way. Cars need to stop. Constable Plew spoke to parents who are too nervous to let their children walk, scooter or bike to school because of the danger to their children crossing the entranceway. Constable Plew intends doing random checks over the coming weeks.
