REFRESHMENT LEAVE FOR JOLENE CASEY

Jennifer Horgan —

Best wishes to Jolene Casey, our specialist PE teacher and Sports Director, as she takes refreshment leave for the remainder of the year to take up a role as Manager of Otago Community Hockey.

Each team held their own special farewell for Jolene Casey, our specialist PE teacher and Sports Director during the last week of term. Jolene has played a pivotal role in giving Sport and PE a high profile at East Taieri. We have been so fortunate to have had such a talented sportsperson sharing her skills and expertise with our students, encouraging them and giving them such a wide range of experiences and opportunities. Jolene is also an excellent classroom teacher, contributing greatly to our teaching team. We hope to see Jolene back at East Taieri in 2023!

In the meantime, we are very lucky to have Rachel Phillips return early from maternity leave to take over Jolene's roles from this week. As well as being an excellent teacher, Rachel is also a talented sportswoman, having played rugby for Otago. She is looking forward to the challenge of her new roles, as release teacher in Kohekohe - Room One, as well as taking over  the specialist PE teacher and Sports Director roles.
