SNOW! BY RUMA NIKAU AND KOHEKOHE

Lisa Agnew —

Last Monday night the snow fell. We arrived at school to find snow blanketing the ground. Here are a few of our snow stories.

Snowball Fight

Splat!  I hit Sophia in the back of the head lightly with a small, round snowball.  It was girls vs boys, and of course, the boys were going to win.

Straight away half of the boys infiltrated the girls' base.  I scooped some snow up and my hands got really cold.  Out of know-where, a snowball hits me right on the side of my face, then rolls down my front.

Girls scream and snow crushes under my feet.  I can smell muddy ice and feel the cool air brushing past me.  Snow is flying everywhere.

Snow Fight

The slushy snow freezes my hand as I try and hit my enemy.  Sneakily I creep up to the enemies' baseline.  Cones are filled up with squelching wet ice and fired at the enemy.

Ice drips down my back.  I try to forget about my frost-bitten, damp feet.  As I walk away from the snow fight, Bella comes over and puts a huge pile of snow in my hood.  She pulls it over my head, making my head, back, and legs soaking wet.

Back in class, I wait for morning tea to come so I can get my revenge on the boys.

Snowball Fight

"Girls vs boys," everybody shouted loudly.  It was a snowball fight.

I did not want to get hit with a freezing snowball.

I scooped up a teeny tiny ball of snow and I tossed it at a boy's jacket.  It made a gigantic, loud thump.  People were screeching each time they got hit with a snowball.

My hands started stinging and hurting so I stopped throwing snowballs at people.  As I walked towards the teacher I jumped, petrified because somebody had tossed a snowball at me.  I thought I was going to make it through without being hit, but sadly I had been hit.

We headed back to class.  I didn't want to trip, so I jogged back to class for the heater.

Snow Day

Crunch, crunch,

Under my feet.

They trot through ice and snow.

Playground, covered in frost and snow.

We wait for a snowball fight.

The girl's base.

The boy's base.

The war had begun!

Snowball's flying through the air,

As they hit their opponents.

SMACK!

Snow Fight

I ran away to get some snow for our upcoming battle. My hands instantly feel the sharp touch of the hail-type snow. I sprint towards the girls' base where they are hiding. One of them throws a snowball at me but it falls apart mid-air because she didn’t compact it. Then I cock my arm like it's a catapult and haul my snowball at the girls. They give me a death stare and I run to reload. As I’m running I feel a snowball pelt me in the back. My back hurts from the sharp edges on the snowball. I run and grab a cone then I fill it with snow and chuck it on Sophia. Laughing I dash away.

The Snowball Fight

Splat I hit Sophia square in the back. It was boys versus girls and it was even. I could feel the icy snow freeze my hands into ice cubes, as I molded the giant snowball. I took aim and hit Olivia but not quite on target, it hit her straight in the neck. “Oooh,” said Felix “That might have hurt.” I could smell the dirty ice as I snuck up to the girls' base. Then out of nowhere from up on the fort, someone dumped a cone filled with snow right on my head! I could feel myself screaming with the pain of the cold. “Arrrrhhhh!” At the time I didn’t even know who or what hit me and I dropped the snowball I was going to use in my stealth attack. I just ran for my life! Then Miss Clague said, “It’s time to go back to class.” I didn’t even get revenge on the girl who got me. When we all got back inside Evelyn told me it was her that tipped the cone on me.

The Snowball Fight

The snow covers the ground like a blanket. I hear the crunching snow under my feet. I feel the cold air freeze the inside of my nose when I inhale. I look up and see the opposition in a big fort, my friend and I decide to raid the fort. It was successful. I look down to the opposition's base and I get a snowball to the face, I half scream and half-laugh. It feels like cold knife points sticking into my face.

The Snow Fight

As my class runs out to the field my heart beats 1000 miles per hour, getting ready for the fight. As Miss Agnew said go to your corners boys and girls I get so excited. All the boys grab cones and fill them with snow. I fill my cone up and look for a target. “ Okay,” I said to myself “I’ve found my target - Charlotte.” I hit her all down her back. I got quite hungry and decided to eat some snow, it tastes like ice I guess. We held the snow fight on the field and the playground. It was a great place to have it. My fingers were so numb even though I still had gloves on. I felt cold. There were bark chips in the snowballs as we scooped the snow up. I heard people screaming (the girls). The boys had cones and some of us had bare hands. This was the best day ever!
