PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Jennifer Horgan —

Ko te Tamaiti te Pūtake o te Kaupapa: The Child - the Heart of the Matter

Kia ora koutou

The Board and staff thank you for your support and understanding during last week's strike action. We are hopeful that the educational issues of major concern were made clear to the government.

- Adequate resourcing and support for students with special needs or learning challenges

- Staffing entitlements that allow enough time to plan and teach quality programmes

- Salary offers that ensure teaching is a valued and attractive profession.

In the meantime, life at East Taieri continues to be full of exciting programmes and events, especially with the Taieri Hui Ako this week, as well as the second Year 4 museum sleepover.

Staff are involved in professional development sessions at present, focusing on the new Digital Curriculum which is to be implemented into programmes  from next year.

It will provide a greater focus on students building their skills so they can be innovative creators of digital solutions, moving beyond solely being users and consumers of digital technologies.

Ngā mihi
