WALK N WHEEL TO SCHOOL WEEK

Lisa Agnew —

This week is Walk n Wheel to School Week. This is an annual event used to ‘kick start’ Active Transport for the school year.

Walk n Wheel Week aims to:

  • Encourage and promote active modes of transport, such as scootering, biking and walking.

  • Get kids, parents and schools thinking about Active Transport.

At East Taieri School we try to inspire our students to be fit and active. We would love to see as many students as possible walking or wheeling to and from school.

There are great spot prizes up for grabs, and the names of students who have walked or wheeled every day of Walk n Wheel to School Week will have a chance to win many other exciting prizes. The higher the percentage of students who walk or wheel to school each day, the greater the chance to win the best prizes.

Reasons to walk or wheel to school

  • To improve health and fitness

  • To learn about road safety

  • To reduce pollution

  • To save money on petrol

  • To have fewer cars and less chaos at the school gate

  • To have fun with friends and make new ones

To be fresh and ready for learning at the start of the day
