WALK N' WHEEL WEEK - 1-5 MARCH

Garth Powell —

Walk n’ Wheel Week is run by Sport Otago with funding from the Dunedin City Council and Otago Motor Trust and is a FREE event open to all Dunedin Primary (Year 0 – 8) Schools.

The weeklong event is a great way to kickstart active transport, with support available from the School Travel Plan Coordinator to help continue this throughout the year.

It is designed to promote and encourage active transport to and from school to help reduce congestion at the school gate.

Walk n’ Wheel Day is held as an opportunity for whanau to join their children in walking to and from school and special activities are encouraged to celebrate this day as well.

Walk n’ Wheel Day is Wednesday 3 March.

Colouring competition - schools or family members can print off copies to colour in which can be emailed to stp@sportotago.co.nz. All colouring pictures received by Wednesday 10 March 2021 will go into the draw for spot prizes.

Snap and win - this year we would love to get parents/caregivers involved with supporting this fantastic event by snapping photos of themselves walking or wheeling with their child/children on Walk n’ Wheel Day (Wednesday). They can post them to the Sport Otago Facebook or Instagram page with the hashtag #walknwheelday2021 and go into the draw to win a drink bottle or a keep cup.

See Miss Agnew for more information.
