SPORTS NEWS - WEEK 9

Jolene Casey —

The last of the results, reports and POD awards. Huge thanks to all of our coaches, managers and parent helpers too ....

HUGE THANKS

I would like to say a very large and heart felt thank you to all of our our sports coaches, managers and parent helpers this summer season.  We really appreciate all of the time you give up to help out our sporting superstars.  Without your passion, dedication and enthusiasm with all of our sports teams, we would not be as successful as we are and the children would not be able to learn, develop, grow and have so much fun!  So a huge thanks for all of your efforts with the sports teams this year, please enjoy a well deserved rest from school sports over the Christmas and New Year break and we look forward to seeing you back in 2021!

TOUCH

Well done to all of our Touch teams this season.  Unfortunately we had a few wet Mondays so didn't get in as many games as we would have liked.  We had a number of teams in the finals today, so hope that everyone enjoyed their last games.

FUTSAL

Well Done to our Futsal team who had some very close battles this season, always working hard right to the very end.  Keep up your skills over the summer break and we look forward to seeing lots of you sign up for 2021.

FLIPPABALL (mini water polo)

Flippa Ball is all done for the 2020 season.  Well done to all of our Flippa Ball Teams with some fantastic results throughout the season.

Match Reports

Final 2nd 2020 B Grade

ET Seals lost against Abbotsford Sharks

Well done to the Seals who did their best and gave everything in the Final. Initially both teams battled hard to get the advantage, however the teamwork by the Sharks applied the pressure to come out with a deserved win. Well done to the whole team and our super subs for their effort and determination this year : Noah, Connor, Cameron, Ellie, Isha, Max, George, Charlotte and Charlie. A huge thanks to all our Seal Support crew on the sidelines for their support. Player of the day : Ellie for great positioning and goal scoring.

The ET Sharks had a very competitive last game of the season, managing to come out on top to win 6-5. Lots of smart positioning and passing by everyone throughout the game. No Player of the Day as such, but two special awards:

1. Most Improved over the year to Harry S. Harry only started playing this year and isn't the tallest player out there which is a distinct disadvantage in Flippa Ball! His awareness of the game has improved tremendously, and he's learned to hassle the opposition no matter their size.

2. Most Valuable Player to Lily McG. Lily has always been a strong swimmer, but her ability to read the game, and the accuracy and power of her throwing have really improved this term. She was responsible for much of the Shark's forward movement during their games, and quite a few goals over the term. Well done Lily!

ET Dolphins vs Balaclava Barracudas

Our ET Dolphins ended the year with another resounding win over the Balaclava Barracudas winning their game 8-3!We had some excellent goal keeping on display from both Corby B and Angus R. Plenty of goals were hitting the mark this week, the team played exceptionally well and placed 3rd overall in the B grade. Huge thanks to Jack J, Charlotte J and Lily M for covering our absences this week. Thank you also to all the parents, caregivers, friends and whanau for your support this season. Everyone has been on time for every game this season so thanks to the grown ups for the punctual taxi service! Congratulations to our Player of the Day - Kaiah H! Kaiah has been a consistent, reliable player throughout the season, playing in all positions and always has a big smile that lifts the team spirit. Well done everyone! Keep safe and well this holiday season and good luck to all the Year 6 students moving on to new schools next year.

SOFTBALL

East Taieri Tigers Red had a great game on Saturday and the players really enjoyed themselves with some great running and really big hits with the
Player of the day - Hamish C.

East Taieri Tigers Black had a very tough game against the previously unbeaten Carisbrook side to win their semi final by 23 to 19. Both teams had some very big hits, however, it was the fielding that proved the difference with the entire team taking some very good outs. Player of the day - Ryan VT.
