Last Friday we held a special assembly to launch our 'Play is the Way' Behaviour Education programme which we are implementing at East Taieri.

PLAY IS THE WAY is a practical methodology for teaching social and emotional skills using guided play, classroom activities and an empowering language.

It is a process that gives primary schools a way to develop, improve and entrench the personal and social capabilities of students.

At our assembly each team chose one of the following five key concepts to present to the school. These concepts will help students to be independent, self-regulating, self-motivated learners who pursue their personal best and get along well with others.

- Treat others as you would like them to treat you.

- Be brave - participate to progress.

- Pursue your personal best no matter who you work with.

- Have reasons for the things you say and do.

- It takes strength to be sensible.

Our coin trail raised $380 to go towards resources for the programme.
