MUFTI DAY FUNDRAISER - FRIDAY 30th SEPTEMBER

Jennifer Horgan —

The Kaitiaki Rōpū are holding a Mufti Day on the last day of term to Bokashi Compost System

The Kaitiaki Rōpū has been researching a sustainable way to recycle our fruit waste at school. Jennie from Enviroschools suggested some solutions and loaned us a Bokashi Compost System to trial in Rooms 9 and 10. This has turned out to be a very successful way of dealing with our fruit scraps while generating amazing compost. Bokashi buckets sit in the classroom and do not smell or attract vermin or pests. We are happy to have found a successful system and Ross (the caretaker) is also happy so it’s a win/win!!

We approached Mrs Horgan and asked to have a mufti day to fundraise for a Bokashi system in each pod and after hearing our enthusiastic and convincing proposal she agreed it was an excellent idea. The mufti day will be on the last day of term and children will be encouraged to wear green and bring a gold coin donation.
