Another huge thanks to our many Parent Coaches and Managers. We couldn't have as many children playing without your support, so a huge thank you for all of your time and effort.

Futsal

Finals this week, good luck to our teams.  Enjoy your last games.  Once again a big thank you to our amazing parent helpers/managers.  We really appreciate your time and effort to enable these teams to take part in the competition.

Game Report from last week.

Wow - 2 games, 2 wins and one awesome team today. They all played amazingly, attacking the ball and really getting stuck in. Charlotte J stood out and especially in the second half volunteering to be goalie for her first time and nearly scored a goal from her own goal line. They won their first game 3 - 2 against the Grant's Braes girls who are a really skilled team and it's always been close games against them. Charlotte J got player of the game and Felix got a hatrick. The next game straight after the first one was also impressive. The whole team are all getting stuck in. They pass it around, chase on defense, look to mark other players and find gaps to create chances. The whole team really has improved. The score was 7-1 to ET against Columba. Medina, bravely had a go at being goalie in the 2nd half and did really well. Cameron was the player of the game. They're a fantastic team and it was great to watch.

Hockey

Registrations are still open for Junior Hockey in Term 2 and 3. Check out the school sports website for more information and also the link below for the form to fill in. We still require 1 or 2 more players in the Year 5 and 6 team. Please register before Wednesday this week. LAST CHANCE. :-)

Hockey is played in Dunedin at the main turf on Harbour Terrace and at Kings High School and also on the new turf at Taieri College. It is played on a Wednesday afterschool from 3.45 - 6.00pm.

Hockey is for all children from Years 3-6. There are some other hockey options available for the Year 1-2 children during different parts of the term. Keep an eye on the website and newsletters for these too.

The children do not need to have a hockey stick to play as we can lend you one from school, so it's a great opportunity to give it a go first before spending money on gear.

Year 1 and 2 Hockey - see the poster below for details.  Taieri College on a Friday afternoon 3.30 - 4.30pm Term 2.

Flippa Ball

All of our Flippa Ball teams have had a great season too.  Here is a report from our Dolphins team.

Amazing win for the season yesterday. Really hard final game against Māori Hill. Everyone played their best and kept going right to the end. 4-3 win which was a very tense game.

They have all done a great job this year and improved immensely. They have worked really well as a team and should be very proud of themselves.

Last Goodbyes ....

This is my last newsletter for 2022 as I leave East Taieri School to take up my new role full time at Otago Hockey.  A huge thank you to all of the East Taieri community who have supported me as coaches, managers, parent helpers etc across a large variety of sports over the past 24 years.  I hope that all of the children continue to get a lot of enjoyment from their sport and take up all the opportunities in front of them to have a go.  I'm leaving you all in very good hands with Rachel Phillips taking up the role of Sports Co ordinator.

If you have any questions around anything sporting, please don't hesitate to contact our  NEW Sports Director Rachel Phillips - rachelp@east-taieri.school.nz
