SPORT NEWS - WEEK 9

Jolene Casey —

The latest updates on all of our sporting codes.

HOCKEY

We have 2 Year 5/6 hockey teams this season.  These teams will get underway with games next week on Wednesday 17th of June.  Good luck to these 2 teams for their season ahead.  Practice for these two teams will be at school this week on Thursday at lunchtime.

For the Year 1/2 children there is Funsticks Hockey at Taieri College on Friday after school during all of Term 3. See the flyer below and register at:- http://oha.org.nz/funsticks

Spaces are limited for this Funsticks programme, so get in early to register. It is a great fun programme for the children to take part in.

Coming up in the holidays are also some great Blue and Gold Holiday Hockey options for children who are keen to further extend their skills, see the flyer below for further information and also www.oha.org.nz

There are opportunities for coaches and umpires to upskill with Otago Hockey Association as well.  See the flyers below for details or contact Jolene at school.

MINIBALL (mini basketball)

The miniball teams are all selected and sorted to begin our 2020 season.  Many thanks to the parents who answered my pleas for help and have come forward to help with coaching.  We still require a couple more helpers please. Contact Jolene if you are able to lend a hand jolene@east-taieri.school.nz

Games for Miniball will begin in Week 1 of Term 3, starting on Monday 20th July.  All games are played at the Memorial Stadium in Mosgiel.

NETBALL

All Netball teams are sorted for the season and will get underway at the Taieri College Courts in Mosgiel at the start of Term 3, beginning on Saturday 25th of July.  Mrs Duff or your school netball coaches will be in touch with any further details.

TENNIS

Primary school students are being invited to learn to play tennis with one of Tennis Otago's local qualified coaches! M.A.T Tennis Coaching is currently offering three indoor tennis sessions for the price of just $20 (+Edgar Entry).
