Alert Level 4 Information for our East Taieri Community

Jennifer Horgan —

20 August

Kia ora Koutou

The East Taieri staff and Board are hoping that all of our families remain safe and well during these uncertain times. We understand the challenges and stresses that many of you will be facing during this lockdown, but it has been great to hear from teachers who have been contacted by famililies making the most of the extra family time, doing fun things together. It reminded us of the positives from the last lockdown.

With the Prime Minister's announcement that we will remain at Alert Level 4 until 11.59pm on 24 August staff have been planning ahead for next week. Class Zoom sessions will begin on Monday. Teachers will be emailing families with information on times for their class session.

East Taieri School’s Distance Learning Plan can be accessed at:

Natalie King is following up on the information that parents gave us after the last lockdown regarding access to devices and will be contacting those families on the list.

We realise that there will be some very disappointed children who will be missing out on planned events such as the Year 4 Museum sleepover, speech finals and other activities that they had been looking forward to. We will do our best to reschedule these events.

Our school staff and board will continue to be available to support your child’s learning and wellbeing in the coming days.

A reminder – please don’t use our playground during lockdown. Playgrounds cannot be used at Alert Level 4.

As always, please let us know if there is anything you need to support you and your tamariki during this time. Don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher/kaiako, the Deans (Janine Clague – janine@east-taieri.school.nz, Garth Powell – garth@east-taieri.school.nz, Natalie King – natalie@east-taieri.school.nz) or myself if there is anything you need assistance with.

Stay safe.
