GOLF WITH MELANIE

Jennifer Horgan —

By Isabelle T - Room 34

Room 34 was really excited when we were told we would go and play some golf with Melanie, (the golf instructor.) We were led out to the right hand side of the field and waited on the stone path until the class before us finished their turn. When they did, we all ran over and stood behind a bright red flag plunged into the ground. Melanie introduced herself and spoke us through how to play, using some examples with kids. Questions were asked as we were told to go over to the colourful flags and wait at one, as Melanie walked over behind us. There, we followed the instructions of picking the flag up, holding it properly and swinging from the right, nice and slowly, then at a  higher speed to the left. Once we got the hang of the basics we went back to the red flag and got sorted into groups, depending on height. One person started golf, while two others stood at the coloured flag further away, but still in front of the golfers they were paired with.

Everyone had a turn with the big ball, tennis ball and the actual golf ball. The golf cut into morning tea a bit, but we didn't mind because we got extra play because of it. When we finished golf we went back to the red flag and thanked Melanie for her time. As we walked back we were filled with joy while we continued on with our day.
