PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Jennifer Horgan —

‘E ako ana, ā, e tipu tahi ana tātou’ - Learning and growing together.

Kia ora Koutou

On Friday afternoon we held a special farewell assembly for Mrs Jolene Casey who is now fully committed to her role with New Zealand Hockey.

Olivia Fowler, ex East Taieri pupil and highly successful athlete spoke on behalf of ex pupils on whose lives Jolene had had a huge influence. There were also several 'thank yous' from ex pupils who talked about how Jolene had instilled in them a love of physical activity, the importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship, how she had taught them to be resilient, to take pride in representing East Taieri, to see just what you can achieve when you give your best and how privileged they were to have had her as their teacher.

We wish Jolene well in her new role and thank her for her invaluable contributions to teaching and to sport and PE over her 24 years at East Taieri. She has left a sporting legacy, taking sport and PE from strength to strength over the years, creating amazing opportunities for students, developing outstanding programmes and introducing new initiatives, making sport such a valued component of the curriculum. Jolene's many contacts throughout the sporting world benefitted East Taieri students as did her own skills and passions.

We are fortunate to have Rachel Phillips, another highly skilled and talented sportswoman, now in Jolene's role, continuing to build on and strengthen what Jolene had set in place for sport and PE at East Taieri.
