PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Jennifer Horgan —

Tangata ako ana i te kāenga, te turanga ki te marae, tau ana. A person nurtured in the community contributes strongly to society.

Kia ora koutou

Welcome back to Term 4 - a term which is always a very busy one, so keep watching for dates of events and activities that may involve your children. It is great to see children returning to school so enthusiastically, ready for the final term of 2018.

Staffing for 2019:

After more than 20 years teaching at East Taieri, Rae Parker is retiring at the end of the year. We have all benefitted from Rae's many strengths over the years, especially her musical talents and strengths in literacy. Rae has been involved in the introduction of many curriculum changes and new teaching initiatives throughout her career, always keeping relationships with her students and their well being as her priority. Staff will miss her witty sense of humour and kind, caring nature.

Bronwyn Holgate has decided not to return to her full-time teaching position for 2019, after her year's refreshment leave. Bronwyn, a talented artist is really enjoying her new venture into teaching art and has waiting lists for several of her children's art classes. Bronwyn will return part-time next year as a classroom release teacher.

Jessica Hall and Melanie Cruickshank who joined us this year in fixed-term positions have been appointed to permanent positions. Both Jess and Mel have been great additions to our teaching team and we are delighted that they will be remaining at East Taieri.

We are also pleased to be able to have Belinda Duff remaining in a full-time position next year.

More information about staffing and class structure for next year will be included in newsletters later in the term.

Ngā mihi

Jennifer
