SPORTS INFORMATION - WEEK 3

Jolene Casey —

Lots of sporting information for the week's ahead ....

If your child is keen on playing any sport, please keep a close eye on the School Sports Website, the Newsletter, and our School Face Book page to make sure you do not miss out on any registration closing dates or information.  We have cut offs dates from the Regional Sporting Organisations that we have to have teams entered by, so your late registrations can not always be accepted into our teams.

While we don't want any children to miss out on taking part in sports, with the late registrations it is becoming very hard to manage.  We have had an increasing number of late registrations over the past couple of seasons and it is making it very difficult to organise teams.

A reminder that SCHOOL SPORTS are VACCINE MANDATED, so you will need your vaccine passport to enter any venues for sports events.

Please keep checking back into our school sports website, the registrations for winter sports will open up nearer the end of this term.

For further information about any of the sports available see our school sports website.

Basketball Pre Season

3 different development programmes are available from Basketball Otago to upskill the children ready for the miniball season.  See the flyers below for all the options.  Programmes begin this week.

Cricket Smash

We have 3 teams entered into this competition on a Tuesday afternoon. It's very exciting to have 3 school teams for the first time ever in a cricket competition. Games begin on Tuesday 22nd of February at Brooklands Park in Mosgiel at 3.40pm.

Touch

We have 7 teams entered into the Taieri competition for Term 1. Games begin THIS Monday the 14th of February at Peter Johnstone Park in Mosgiel from 3.30pm. The draw is available below and also on the school sports website and the Otago Touch website.

We may have the opportunity to add another Year 5/6 boys team to the competition, however, this will require 1 or 2 more players to have enough to play.  As with the other sports if your child is keen, please email Mrs Casey and it will be first in first served.

Futsal

We have 2 teams registered to play this term. Year 3/4 start on Tuesday 22nd of February and Year 5/6 team starts on Wednesday 23rd of February.

Our Year 1/2 children do not have enough to form a team, if you have a Yr 1 or 2 child that is keen, please email Mrs Casey and we'll see if we can get enough for a team.  Futsal South have opened the registrations for longer, so we may be able to sneak in if we can get another 2 or 3 players.  First in first served!

Flippa Ball

The first games got underway yesterday at Moana Pool.  Good luck to our 2 teams for this season.  The draw for the season is available below and also on our school sports website.
