SPORTS DAY

Joanne Bryson —

Year's 4-6 went to the Edgar Centre last Friday to learn a range of sports skills from the Otago Polytech students.

"Here we are!" I said walking in. I was as excited as a child getting an iPhone for their birthday! As we walked in we had to sit down in our groups and wait for the next instruction. My group was group 4 and our first activity was football/soccer. I didn't know much but as we played I started to learn how to control and kick probably. After football I went to have a water break because I was exhausted from losing control of the ball.

The next thing we did was basketball. I loved it! We played super fun games. I did bang my head on the ground but I was fine. I got up and started playing again. The games we played were octopus, tag and a game when you pass the ball to the finish line/cone. "It's morning tea now" "Yay" I said and started running to my bag because I was STARVING!

"Munch, crunch" was the sound I made while eating my cookie. Everyone else was eating their yummy food too. My cookie was as tasty as a chocolate bar from Willy Wonka. "Ding, Ding". Sadly we had to stop eating and move onto the next sport.

We played rugby (my least favourite sport) and I ended up with a lot of injuries...but my last sport was hockey and I loved it!

When we had to leave I sighed in sadness but I did have a really fun day.
