SUCCESS FOR THE TECHNO BUBBLES

Article written by Leo H

On the 25th of June the Techno Bubbles, aka Jack, Oliver, Leo and Hector came first place in the mind fizzling challenge......the EPro8. Within two and a half hours the Techno Bubbles set (probably) the world record of 340 points. Two members of the team known as Oliver and Hector, registered the year before (2018). With high hopes the team came back with an unsuccessful number of only around 100 points.

But this year they beat their miserable score by 240 points. This resulted to be a  score that got the amazing Techno Bubbles in first place. The team got given a set of challenges. These challenges were split into four puzzling areas such as the ball pit, the lightning rod, the elevator and the rat wheel. The group picked the area based on their skill. In this case it was the ball pit due to the strength the group had in mathematics. When the team had thought they had completed a challenge they would signal the helpers by hitting a big red button that played a quick verse of usually up beat music. In our case it was the theme to Indianna Jones. A number of times the team smashed the button to find that their answer was wrong. But through a stressful lack of wiring and measurement the team left Balmac with the majestifying EPro8 trophy.

TECHNO BOTS SUCCESS

We were pretty surprised when we came second. It was down to a tie breaker and we got our challenge done in 30 seconds. You had to join up a heap of cords to make a light turn on and a buzzer go.

We had three people going at a time on an activity and the other person was grabbing stuff and cleaning up. Then we rotated turns Great team work by Otis, Luke, Jack and Flynn.

R.O.T.N.N.E.A

Article written by Tayla B

On Thursday last week Courtney, Connie, Rosie and Tayla went to Tahuna North Intermediate for the 2019 EPro8 Challenge. Our team name was R.O.T.N.N.E.A which is all our names mixed together. We were competing against 12 extremely competitive and hard working teams from all over Otago. We had chosen to complete the ball pit task. We had 2hrs 30 to complete this. We really had to work hard with each other and be determined to get this.It took a very long time to complete one task and we were starting to lose hope, but after a good half an hour it all paid off. Because of this hard work we managed to get 280 points and took out first place against some really good teams. Thank you Miss B for all the hard effort you have put in for us. On Tuesday we will be heading to Dunedin Intermediate to compete in the finals. Well done to the amazing teams and to Girl power and Supercircuits who competed with us.

Congratulations also to the Supercircuits team - Van G, Aaliya B, Finn N and Ronan M who came third place in the heats and have also made it to the finals tomorrow. Good luck!
