PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Jennifer Horgan —

‘E ako ana, ā, e tipu tahi ana tātou’ - Learning and growing together.

Kia ora koutou

As you will have heard during the Prime Minister's announcement this afternoon, although schools are to reopen on 29 April, parents who are able to keep their children at home, continuing with online learning in its present form, are asked to do so. As we are unsure about so many issues, especially safety concerns, we will be awaiting guidelines from the Ministry of Education before informing parents of how learning will look for those children for whom it is necessary to be at school under Alert Level 3.

I have been so impressed with the online learning that has gone on, the support from parents and the fabulous range of activities that children have been involved in. I have been able to join several class zoom sessions and it has been great to see the enjoyment shown by both teachers and students engaging with one another.

I want to thank teachers for the time and effort that they have put into ensuring that the transition to online learning has been so successful. I know how keen everyone is for life to get back to normal, but as we move into Alert Level 3 we need to think about what Jacinda Arden said today,

'We still want the vast majority of people working from home, and children and young people learning from home.'

Thank you to everyone for working together so well.

Te tuku aroha mai i taku mirumiru ki a koe -

Sending kindness from my bubble to yours.
