Year 10

Looking back on Year 10 2023…

Cayleigh Roskruge-Darbyshire: The best memory of Year 10 for me is representing Ellesmere College in Netball. I felt proud of myself.

Alex Bray: Maths was good this year because I actually learned something and got my credits for NCEA.

Mateo Sierra: I made friendships and I speak better English so I can speak for myself now.

Rio Woodroffe: I made a great friendship with Sophia for the first time this year. We work well together.

Chloe Kennett-Kiesanowski: My reading has gone up and I got my numeracy credits. I don’t feel dumb anymore.

Gabriel Catre: I’m proud that I have improved my grades from the previous years. I want to make my parents proud. I had the motivation to work in Year 10.

Performance Afternoon

This term in Ako the Year 10 students of Ellesmere College have been developing and working towards the annual performance afternoon. This event has a long history at Ellesmere College and has been a highlight of the year and something for students to work towards. This unit of work allows our students to demonstrate leadership, refine self management skills, and enhance social and cooperative skills. The students were given some choice about who they wanted in their groups and then were assigned groups with some of those they chose to work with. This proved to be a challenge for the groups however many rose to the occasion and have produced a great performance.

Farewell Ms Sidorenco

I am immensely grateful for the valuable experience, professional and personal growth I have had teaching at Ellesmere College. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role this year was witnessing students’ growth, both academically and personally. It is exciting to think about the new adventures that await my lovely Mathematics students and my amazing Hapori class as they move on to Year 11 next year. Whether in the classroom, during collaborative teaching, or in the staff room, the teachers’ dedication to the students and commitment to doing their best have been my inspiration. I want to express my gratitude to each of you and particularly to Mrs.Morton who has provided me with a generous amount of support and guidance. I look forward to carrying these lessons with me as I embark on new challenges and opportunities at Hillmorton High School.

Farewell and best wishes,

Ms Sidorenko
