RISE Team

With the term three fast closing in, we continue to see RISE tokens being given out across the school.

The year level leading the way is year nine, with 375 tokens awarded at the end of week six. This is a fantastic effort and shows the hard work being displayed by Ellesmere Students across the school.

Staff have also been working hard behind the scenes upskilling their own teaching practices to ensure that behaviour across the school continues to be positive. It is important that we show consistency with our approaches to behaviour with an emphasis on building strong relationships and expectations at Ellesmere College.

Last term, the Ellesmere College Restorative Reflection form was redesigned to allow students to reflect and understand why/where this incident has breached our RISE values. It gives them the chance to reflect on their actions and the harm that has been caused to the student/teacher relationship and often to the class atmosphere.

This form is then used to repair the harm during a restorative conversation with the teacher and student. This has been a success, with teachers reporting that students are managing to reflect clearly and can see how their behaviour has affected others and themselves. This allows students to move forward in a positive manner and continue to engage and accelerate in their learning.

If you want to know more about the restorative process this website has some great information.
