Junior Mathematics Competition 2023

This is a problem-solving competition run out of Otago University for Year Nine to Eleven students.

It is in it’s 38th year! Students are required to read the questions carefully and then work through the problem solving. Some questions are for all year groups, where as other questions are just for some year groups.

The competition is held in two parts

· Part One - A multi-choice and short answer exam completed online completed in March

· Part Two – A paper exam limited to the top 15% of participants from the first part which is done in May

We had four students compete

· William Sheppard – gaining valuable experience as a Year Seven

· Sebastian Goddard Year Ten – gained a Merit Award

The following two students made it through to the second part of the competition.

· Sam Rawstron Year Ten – gained a Merit Award

· Claire Sheppard Year Nine – gained a Distinction Award
