Year 7 Ako

We have just started our Wonder Project Rocket Challenge in conjunction with Shaun Buchan from Brian Perry Civil and the students have been introduced to Science lab’s and the expectations that come with being in one.

During this unit students will be designing, building and launching their own water rockets. They will also be learning about Newton’s laws, the engineering design process and working as a team. We look forward to showing you the finished product at our end of term exhibition evening.

In other areas of Ako, winter sport is almost upon us and begins Week 5. We start the week with a Quad tournament on 23rd May, involving Darfield High School, Mt Hutt College and Geraldine High School. This year we travel to Mt Hutt College and will be taking 2 netball teams, a football team and rugby team. More information will come home about this early next week. 

We then head off to Hagley Park on Thursday 25 May for our weekly winter sport which sees us with 4 netball teams, 2 football and 2 rugby teams, this is awesome to see so many students becoming involved. For those students staying at school they will also be a part of a Year 7/8 sport rotation during this time.
