Arts Learning Area Update

It’s been a busy start to the year in the Arts learning area, with the Music, Photography, Art and Drama studios all hives of activity.

The achievement of our students last year has set the bar high, and we will be working hard as a department to help our students go further in 2023.

Some New Year Arts Newsflashes:

  • Congratulations to the two talented senior art students who have been selected to be part of the Artstart exhibition, which features the top student artists in Canterbury. Their work will be professionally framed and sold, with the students earning commissions!

  • Our new Drawing Club is up and running this term. Students have already been creating art with our new digital drawing devices and are learning techniques with Mr Conway.

  • Pottery Club will be firing up in Term 2. Our kiln has been serviced and is ready for action!

  • We are excited that we have invested in a professional etching press this year. Limited edition prints of student works will be hot off the press soon…

  • Music students setting up our new recording studio will be getting hands-on experience with professional equipment this term. This will make a big difference in our Music department.

  • Rockquest and even professional gigs will be rehearsed in our new space this year: keep your eyes peeled and ears pinned back for our students’ performances.

  • Drama students are in the process of developing their acting skills, and working towards a performance that they hope to take on the road to our local primary schools!
