Inspire Programme

On Tuesday 14th March Ellesmere Year 9 students boarded the complimentary buses to Lincoln University to go to the Inspire Programme organised by Lincoln University.

‘Inspire’ offers a fantastic opportunity to learn about the life-changing power of sport. Students took part in interactive sessions with Sail GP crew members and other pro athletes, including All Blacks, Black Ferns, and Black Caps, many of whom were past students of Lincoln University.

They were also involved in workshops focused on topics such as sustainable ideas for sailing product development, reducing the carbon footprint of the sporting industry, food and nutrition for athletes and local impact projects.

This event coincided with the inaugural ITM New Zealand Sail Grand Prix launching from Lyttelton Harbour this weekend. The sporting programme was for year 9-11 students throughout Canterbury.

Sail GP is an international sailing competition, with teams competing across a season of multiple grand prix around the world.

Following an amazing Kapa Haka performance all students were treated to a lunch box each in the form of a Hangi which was delicious and capped off an amazing day.

Thanks to the teachers that attended the day and looked after our exceptionally well-behaved students who were outstanding ambassadors for our school!
